What should I wear?

Most Guests will be dressed formally. We will have a few dress fittings and we have partnerships with several tuxedo rental companies but Guests do not have to dress formally or purchase any prom attire. At the end of the day, you can dress in what makes you comfortable.

Can I bring my own Buddy?

You can bring your own Buddy but Buddies must register and go through our training and vetting process. This allows all our special Guests to be safe during the prom.

What should I expect when I get to the prom?

Night to Shine is Friday Night from 6PM - 9PM at South Forsyth High School (585 Peachtree Pkwy, Cumming). If you arrive early, please stay in your car until 6PM. The entrance to the prom will be by the big oak tree in front of the High School. There will be volunteers in the parking lot to assist and give direction. Please let them know if you prefer a silent entrance. After you register with your Parent/Caregiver, you will be assigned to a Buddy that will escort you through the night which will include karaoke, games, dinner and many other activities including the dance floor. At 8:45PM, all prom participants will gather on the dance floor for a pre-recorded message from Tim Tebow and the crowning.

What if I am not receiving emails?

All emails are generated through “Sign up Genius”. Log into “Sign up Genius” and confirm your email is correct. Many business and personal email providers send mass emails to your spam folder. You can check your emails their or use your settings to “whitelist” (allow) emails from “Sign up Genius.”

What is the age requirement?

Night to Shine is for Guests 14 and older.

Is there an age requirement to volunteer?

All volunteers must be 16 and older to serve inside the prom. Younger volunteers can serve in the paparazzi / red carpet with a parent.

What is the background check process?

For the safety of our Guests, all Volunteers over the age of 18, must complete our criminal background check. To support the prom, Volunteers are given the option to pay for their own background check. You will not receive a response from your background check unless the check finds that you have a criminal background that would disqualify you from serving minors.

What if I am not receiving emails?

What time should I arrive at the prom?

The set-up team should arrive at the prom at 3PM. The breakdown team should arrive at 9PM. Volunteer check-in should arrive at 4:30PM. All other volunteers should arrive at 5PM.

What should I expect when I get to the prom?

Please park at Creekside United Methodist Church at 673 Peachtree Pkwy and walk to the big oak tree in front of the High School. You will be directed to volunteer check-in, then to your assigned area of service.

What should I wear to the prom?

Buddies should dress formally. We will have a few dress fittings and we have partnerships with several tuxedo rental companies but Guests do not have to dress formally or purchase any prom attire. Everyone else should dress appropriate for your roll (nurses scrubs, set up casual, etc.)

What should I expect when I get to the prom?

Night to Shine is Friday Night from 6PM - 9PM at South Forsyth High School (585 Peachtree Pkwy, Cumming). If you arrive early, please stay in your car until 6PM. The entrance to the prom will be by the big oak tree in front of the High School. There will be volunteers in the parking lot to assist and give direction. Please let them know if your Guests prefers a silent entrance. After you register with your Guest, they will be assigned to a Buddy that will escort them through the night which will include karaoke, games, dinner and many other activities including the dance. After registration, Parents and Caregivers are invited to stay at the prom site and enjoy dinner and entertainment with your special needs community. Please indicate the number attending when you register your Guest. You are welcome to dress casually. You can also drop off your Guest and spend some time on your own and be back to pick up your Guest by 9PM.
